Description

Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical

Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 07:00 AM – 07:00 PM


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on Medical/Surgical units.
  • Work with primary and team nursing.
  • Must have ACLS, BLS, NIH certification and ability to read basic rhythm strips prior to starting.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS certification.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Completion of 8 hours of stroke training.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Onboarding Requirements

Documentation and Testing

  • State license verification (within 30 days prior to start).
  • Central skills checklist for the assigned unit, updated annually.
  • Core competency exams (Nursing Core Comp I, II, III) with a minimum score of 80%, updated annually.
  • Agency background check within 30 days of start including:
    • SSN address trace, county and national criminal searches, FACIS 3 check.
  • 9+ panel drug screen excluding marijuana (per New York state regulations).
  • Central resume documenting all employment and education history for the last 7 years.
  • Two professional references:
    • One supervisor reference from the last 12 months.
    • One supervisor or peer reference from the last 3 years.
  • Employment verification of most recent employer.
  • Signed job description and other required forms (e.g., code of conduct, sexual harassment acknowledgement, self-study packet, parking registration).
  • Color headshot photo (professional, no filters, JPEG format).
  • TB questionnaire and Epic questionnaire forms specific to the facility.
  • Education verification of initial nursing degree.
  • Health reassessment form required for travelers extending beyond one year.
  • Education mission statement signed for initial assignments.

  • Driver’s license or state ID must be current and legible.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Must be able to read basic rhythm strips before starting.

This position offers a 13-week long-term assignment on a Medical/Surgical unit with day shifts. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, health, and onboarding requirements prior to start.
