ER Registered Nurse

Location

• Bakersfield, California

Contract

• 13 weeks
• Travel contract

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Evening and night shifts
• No block scheduling
• Must be flexible with scheduling
• 4 weekend shifts per month
• Holidays are expected unless the holiday falls during contracted time off
• No call; may be placed on standby for low census with a 30-minute response time if called in

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NIHSS
• 3 full years of experience
• Travel experience required
• Experience in triage
• Experience with both pediatric and adult ER patients
• Significant pediatric ER experience
• Similar patient volume experience

Unit Details

• Adult ER and pediatric ER
• Approximately 325 visits per day across both ERs
• Adult ER has 36 treatment areas
• Pediatric ER has 12 treatment areas plus 8 fast-track pods
• Monitor tech support is available
• Phlebotomy support is available
• ER techs or CNAs are used
• LVNs staff the fast-track area
• In-house security is available

Clinical Expectations

• May float to pediatric ER
• Must be able to manage ER holds
• Basic EKG interpretation test is assigned during orientation

• Minor walk-ins to critically ill patients
• Respiratory failure
• Asthma
• Abdominal pain
• Fractures
• Substance abuse
• Some psych holds
• STEMI
• CVA
• Burns
• Pediatric receiving cases

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs for RNs
• No hoodies, sweatshirts, or sweat jackets
