Registered Nurse (RN) – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Job Description

• Continuously monitor vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature) and level of consciousness during patient recovery from anesthesia.
• Ensure airway patency and adequate respiratory function; intervene promptly in case of obstruction or respiratory distress.
• Administer medications to manage post-operative symptoms, including painkillers, anti-nausea drugs, and fluids.
• Assess surgical sites for bleeding or complications, check dressings, and perform physical assessments.
• Recognize adverse reactions to anesthesia or surgery and initiate emergency interventions as needed.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members regarding patient condition and care plans.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
• Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
