Description
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Overview
- Location: Eureka, California
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Nights, 3x12 hours
- Contract length: 26 weeks
- Start date: ASAP
- Setting: Labor and Delivery
- Patient population: High-risk OB and culturally diverse population
- Unit notes: Postpartum experience preferred; RNs circulate on cesarean sections
Schedule and Work Expectations
- Weekend coverage is required to meet staffing needs
- Travelers float as needed within their scope
- No more than 7 days of requested time off
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Labor and Delivery (1 year of experience)
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Pending license is not accepted
- Required certifications and verifications:
- Basic Life Support
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring
- NURSYS verification
- ACLS
- PALS
- Chemotherapy certification
- IV certification
- Management of Assaultive Behavior
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI
- Required competencies:
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam
- Competency exam
- Color blind testing if specifically required for the unit
- L&D-specific fetal heart rate monitoring assessment or EFM certification, as applicable
Compliance and Pre-Start Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID
- Social Security card, as applicable for I-9
- E-Verify attestation
- 3rd-party education verification
- Background check
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check
- HHS/OIG check
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years
- Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment total within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Work history verification may be required if used in place of reference requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask clearance
- Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B, COVID, flu, and drug screening documentation
- Respiratory safety clearance
