CT Scan Tech - Travel Position

Location: Salinas, California
Employment Type: Travel - Allied Health
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week

Job Summary

• Perform diagnostic CT procedures (head, chest, spine, abdomen, pelvis, etc.) under minimal supervision to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment.
• Conduct daily and weekly quality assurance (QA) on CT equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
• Start intravenous lines (IVs) and administer contrast media orally, rectally, and intravenously.
• Enter technical data (scan type, slice thickness, scan time) into computer systems.
• Operate CT scanner and review images for quality assurance.
• Assist physicians with specialized CT procedures such as biopsies, cardiac, vascular studies, bone density, and 3-D reconstructions.
• Prepare patients by consenting, explaining exams, answering questions, and providing care during procedures and transport.
• Evaluate patient condition pre- and post-procedure and report changes to nursing or radiology staff.
• Perform related duties including equipment maintenance, emergency medical treatment assistance, scheduling support, and participation in department meetings and in-services.
• Maintain continuing education units (CEUs) and CPR certification.

Required Qualifications

• Valid CT Technologist license in California.
• Completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology training program.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CT Technologist.
• CT Technologist experience within the last year.
• Specialized CT procedures experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in IV line insertion and contrast media administration.
• Skilled in data entry and use of systems such as ITS, Meditech, PACS, eMar, and Pyxis.
• Knowledgeable in radiation therapy planning, 3D workstation operation, and CT angiography.
• Ability to provide patient care including assisting with mobility, comfort, and safety during procedures.
• Capable of performing emergency medical treatment under physician direction.

Additional Information

• Must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served.
• Participate in ongoing education and department meetings to stay current with technology and protocols.
