ER Nurse Travel Contract

Location

• Grass Valley, California

Job Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced emergency room nurse
• 13-week assignment
• Night shifts
• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license
• 2 years of experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NIHSS
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Holidays rotate with core staff
• First to float

Unit Details

• Emergency Department
• 21 beds
• Nurse aides available based on census and staffing
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but provides break relief
• Hospitalist or intensivist in house
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team
• No vents

Clinical Setting

• Standard emergency department population
• Includes chest pain, common cold, MI, CVA, and stabilized trauma patients before transfer

Orientation

• Facility-wide orientation is held in Sacramento during the first week
• Floor orientation is 1–2 days with a preceptor

Additional Notes

• Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black
• Scrub jackets are optional and must be navy
• Dysrhythmia exam through Relias is required before acceptance
• 2 supervisor references are required at submittal, including 1 within the last 12 months and 1 within the last 3 years worked
• Holiday time off will be considered but is not guaranteed
• Self-scheduling is used, but final schedules are balanced by the manager
• Block scheduling is generally not available
