Description
ER Registered Nurse
Location
- Bakersfield, California
Contract
- 13 weeks
- Travel contract
Schedule
- Nights
- 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- No block scheduling
- Must be flexible with scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Active California RN license
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS
- 3 full years of experience
- Travel experience required
- Experience in triage
- Experience with both adult and pediatric patients
- Significant pediatric ER experience is required for pediatric ER assignments
Assignment Details
- Adult ER and pediatric ER coverage
- May be required to float to pediatric ER
- No floating outside the ER
- No first-time travelers
- Does not accept duo travelers
Clinical Setting
- Approximately 325 ER visits per day across both ERs
- Adult ER has 36 treatment areas
- Pediatric ER has 12 treatment areas plus 8 fast-track pods
- Adult ER sees STEMI, CVA, burns, respiratory failure, asthma, abdominal pain, fractures, substance abuse, and some psych holds
- Pediatric ER is a receiving center for pediatrics
- ER holds are intermixed, and ED RNs manage their own holds
- No separate psych/seclusion rooms
Unit Operations
- In-house security present
- Charge nurse/house supervisor available
- Monitor techs present
- Phlebotomy available
- RT provides respiratory support and related services
- Some transport support available
Scheduling Requirements
- 4 weekend shifts per month
- Holidays expected unless the holiday falls during contracted time off
- May be placed on standby for low census
- 30-minute response time if called in from standby
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs for RNs
- No hoodies, sweatshirts, or sweat jackets
