Labor & Delivery Unit
Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery Unit
- Location: Bangor, Maine
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 7P-7A
- Hours per week: 36
- Start: ASAP
Required Qualifications
- Experience: At least 2 years in Labor & Delivery
- Travel experience: Not a first-time traveler; must have completed at least 1 assignment at a facility comparable in size and acuity
- Licensure/Certifications: RN, BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced FHM, MOAB

Unit Details
- Level III NICU and Newborn Nursery support
- Average of 1,800 deliveries per year
- Labor & Delivery has 7 labor rooms, 2 triage rooms, and 2 OR suites
- OBED has 2 triage rooms
- Postpartum/Antepartum/GYN/Mother-Baby has 25 beds
- May float to Mother-Baby, Antepartum, or Postpartum
Key Responsibilities
- Titrate Pitocin
- Perform fetal scalp electrodes and cervical exams
- Assist CRNA with epidural placement
- Manage insulin drips and magnesium drips
- Circulate c-sections and/or receive baby in OR
- Provide neonatal resuscitation
- Assist with placement and monitoring of IUPC
- Provide lactation support and safe skin-to-skin care
- OB Tech duties include setup for vaginal deliveries, assisting with vaginal deliveries and repairs, OR setup and scrubbing during c-sections, patient transport, room stocking, sterile equipment handling, and secretarial duties as needed
Scheduling / Operations
- Weekend rotation required: at least 4 of 8 weekend shifts per schedule
- No call required
- Holiday rotation required
- Manager approval required for RTO
Additional Notes
- Cerner and Fetal Link are used for EMR/fetal monitoring
- Free parking on site
