Role

RN (Registered Nurse) for a Family Birthing Center / L&D, PP & OB (LDRP) travel contract.

Required Qualifications

• Active CA RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• AWHONN-Advanced
• 2 years of experience
• Must be able to float to MB
• Must be able to circulate C-sections
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips on moms in PACU only
• Must be willing to do it all from start to finish
• Must be able to titrate drips

Unit Details

• High-risk unit with couplet care
• Unit: FBC - OB / L&D / PP (LDRP)
• 10 L&D beds
• 2 OR suites on the unit for C-sections
• 3 OB-ED triage beds and 3 antepartum testing beds used for OB ED overflow
• 12 postpartum beds
• 140-165 births monthly
• Common patient types include preterm labor, bleeding, inductions, cesarean sections, and hypertension
• Pitocin is a common titratable/set-rate drip
• OB surgical techs are on the unit
• OB hospitalist is in house 24/7
• Neo is on call 24/7 and rounds daily
• Anesthesia is in house 24/7
• No vents

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Shift start: 6:45
• Every other weekend
• Rotates holidays with staff
• Report is at the bedside
• Overtime and extra shifts are available
• If placed on call, response time is 30 minutes

Floating

• May float to other Sacramento facilities
• Mid-shift float to another facility is rare but can happen
• No in-house floating
• First to float

Additional Notes

• Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s
• Holiday time off will be considered but not guaranteed
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates employed PRN through outside firms can be considered
• Need 2 supervisor references at submittal; 1 within 12 months and 1 within 3 years worked
• Copy of driver’s license is needed at time of submittal to validate legal name
• Scrubs provided
• Baby Catcher is also known as the NRP role and is an assignment for the entire shift
