RN - Telemetry

Overview

• Travel RN position in Kansas City, Missouri
• 13-week contract
• 48 hours per week guaranteed/preferred
• Start date: 12/14

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Telemetry (1 year of experience)
• Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with post-cardiac procedural care including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-op day 1 open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements
• Ability to administer and titrate IV medications including insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience

Unit Details

• 29-bed cardiac telemetry unit
• Patient ratio: 1:4
• Full-time schedule required, including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
• Floating to areas where competency has been demonstrated
• Fast-paced environment

Clinical Experience Needed

• Post-cardiac procedural care, including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-op day 1 open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements
• Ability to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone

Common Procedures on the Unit

• IV insertions
• NGT placement and maintenance
• Chest tube maintenance
• Temporary pacemakers
• Foley insertions

Work Environment

• Charge nurse, unit secretary, and PCT support
• Uses Meditech for documentation
• Uses iMobile for communication
• Patient care expectations emphasize courtesy, respect, responsiveness, and bedside communication

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
• Black scrub pants with navy blue top are also allowed
