Description
High Acuity Float Pool RN
Overview
- Role: RN (Registered Nurse)
- Location: Seattle, Washington
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
- Unit/Department: High Acuity Float Pool
Required Qualifications
- License: WA or Compact RN license
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS
- Experience: 2 years ICU experience
- Must have: Prior floating experience, including float pool shifts, other facilities, and/or floating to other floors/units
- Must have: EPIC experience

- High acuity experience
Unit Details
- Float pool includes: Critical Care Unit, Observation, Med Surg, General Surgery, Ortho Surgery, Short Stay Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Telemetry, and Progressive Care
- Common patient types: Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and cardiac
- RN titration of drips is required
- Common titratable/set-rate drips include Epi, Norepi, Dobutamine, Propofol, Esmolol, Hydromorphone, Midazolam, and CIS
- Respiratory equipment includes Vent, High flow, BiPap, and CPAP
- Phillips monitors are used, with at least 1 monitor tech
- RNs read strips
- Nurse aides are usually present, with ratios of 1-2 depending on daily census
- Charge/Res are free
- Self-scheduling is allowed
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per schedule
- Holiday work is required
- No call or standby requirement
- Assignments are created by the charge RN at 0645-1845, and RNs choose assignments
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- Orientation includes General Hospital Orientation, Myles Modules, Cerner Validation class, and 2 shifts of on-unit ICU orientation
Parking
- Parking is paid by the traveler; garage parking has daily and monthly options, or travelers can use the Kings County Transit System
