ER Nurse

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced ER nurse in Arroyo Grande, California.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS.
• ACLS.
• PALS.
• NIH.
• California RN license.
• 2 full years of ER experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• NRP preferred.
• TNCC preferred.
• Prior travel experience preferred.

Unit Details

• ER unit with 14 treatment areas and plans to expand.
• Average census is about 75 patients per day, sometimes up to 140.
• Ratio is 1:4.
• No charge nurse.
• ER techs/EMTs support the unit.
• No designated monitor tech; nurses read and interpret strips.
• Vents are used.
• RT is available 24/7.
• Pharmacy is not 24/7.
• Floating is required to ER.
• Floor-specific orientation is 3 shifts.
• Common patient types include peds, stroke, ortho, abdominal pain, and trauma that is stabilized and transferred ASAP.
• Every other weekend is required.
• Holidays rotate with core staff.
• Scrub color is navy.
• Nurses are not allowed to draw labs.
• The hospital does not have L&D, peds, or NICU.
