Role Overview
Travel contract for an experienced Tele nurse in San Luis Obispo, California.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Assignment Details
- 13-week contract
- Night shift
- 12-hour shifts, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Unit: MedSurg/Tele
- 300 unit: 14 beds
- Main unit: 44 beds
- Ratio: 1:4
- Must float between the 300 unit and the main unit
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays worked in with permanent staff rotation
- Floor-specific orientation: 6 hours
Clinical Setting
- 300 unit: surgical, ortho, medical; may get heparin
- Main unit: more cardiac-focused, stepdown acuity; post cath, post pacemaker, post PCI, TAVR day 1 or greater, CABG day 1 or greater, sepsis, respiratory distress
- Tele monitor system: Phillips
- Nurse reads strips: yes
- Drips used: amiodarone, heparin, cardizem, fixed rate insulin, nitro, dopamine for renal dosing only
- Vents: no, but may get bipap or cpap
- RT available 24/7
- Hospitalist or intensivist on call after hours
- No IV team
- Pharmacy not available 24/7
