ER (Emergency Room) RN

Location

• Grass Valley, California

Assignment Details

• 13-week travel contract
• 21-bed ED
• 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Holidays rotate with core staff
• Holiday time off may be considered but is not guaranteed

Required Qualifications

• Active CA RN license
• 2 years of ER experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NIHSS
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Dysrhythmia exam (Basic) through Relias must be completed within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance

Preferred / Additional Submission Requirements

• 2 supervisory references at submittal, including 1 within the last 12 months and 1 within the last 3 years
• Charge reference accepted

Unit / Clinical Environment

• Cerner EMR
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but does provide break relief
• Nurse aides available as census and staffing dictates
• No vents
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house
• RT 24/7
• Pharmacy 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring is used
• Standard ED population including chest pain, common cold, MI, CVA, and stabilized trauma patients transferred out

Schedule / Workflow

• Shift starts at 6:45
• Report is at the bedside
• OT and extra shifts are available
• Self-scheduling is used, but schedules are not finalized until the manager balances them
• Schedules are released 4 weeks out
• Travelers can make themselves available for extra shifts and trade with other staff
• Block scheduling is generally not available

Orientation

• Facility-wide orientation is held the first week in Sacramento
• Floor orientation is 1-2 days with a preceptor

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs
• Undershirts must be navy, white, or black
• Navy scrub jackets are optional
