Cath Lab/IR/Neuro RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced Cath Lab nurse in Bakersfield, California.
• Unit: Cardiac Cath Lab.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: Days, 4x10s, with start times between 0630 and 0730.
• Hours: 40 per week.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Cardiac Cath Lab (3 years of experience)
• Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
• Experience with cardiac drips such as Integrilin, dopamine, and vasopressin

Unit Details

• 5 suites total:

  • 2 suites primarily for coronary cases
  • 1 suite for peripheral cases
  • 1 suite for vascular and neuro cases
  • 1 suite for EP cases
• Cases per day vary from 10 to 22.
• Case types include cardiac/coronary, vascular, peripheral, general IR, EP, and neuro intervention.
• Travelers will not be cross-trained.
• Scrubbing is not required.
• RN does conscious sedation.
• Floating: No.

Schedule and Call

• Not open on weekends.
• Rotating call for inpatient, urgent, and emergent cases.
• Weekend call runs from Friday evening through Monday morning, subject to unit needs.

Additional Details

• Basic EKG interpretation test is assigned during orientation.
• Critical care RNs from ED, ICUs, and PICU will have additional testing beyond the basic interpretation test.
• Rad badge is provided.
• Scrub color is provided by the hospital.
