RN - Med/Surg - Travel

Location: Summit, New Jersey
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: AM
Hours: 12 hours/day, 36 hours/week

Job Description

• Perform thorough, systematic, and accurate patient assessments across all age groups (Pediatric to Geriatric).
• Deliver competent and appropriate nursing care in a medical-surgical setting, supporting patient care delivery and teamwork.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of nursing processes, patient progress, and education.
• Demonstrate professional responsibility, knowledge of policies, and identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
• Promote patient and family-centered care with professionalism, courtesy, and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and use of two patient identifiers.
• Use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self and patients.
• Provide individualized care for surgical patients, including assessment of reactions and understanding of procedures and anesthesia.
• Take responsibility for prioritizing and directing patient care based on patient needs and condition changes.
• Conduct pre-operative and postoperative assessments and patient/family education.
• Support timely completion and evaluation of Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for surgical patients.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification required
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Infusion nursing experience
• Ability to start IVs
• Comfortable working with PICC lines, Midlines, and portacaths
• Skilled in drawing labs peripherally and from PICCs and portacaths
• Ability to administer iron products and other medications for infusion

Physical Requirements

• As defined by Occupational Safety/OMS standards.

Work Schedule

• Monday – Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM (12-hour shifts).
