Job Description

• Rotating shifts covering Days, Evenings, Nights, and Every Other Weekend (EOW)
• 36 hours per week
• Floating required to Medical/Surgical units (up to 4-5 patients)
• Must be able to read telemetry strips
• Patient population includes a wide range of adult ICU cases such as:

  • Substance Abuse/Overdose
  • Severe Psychiatric conditions
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Sepsis
  • GI bleed
  • Respiratory Failure
  • Cardiac Arrest
  • Renal Failure
  • Cardiogenic Shock
• Attendings and Residents present 24/7
• RN to patient ratio:

  • ICU: 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity
  • Med/Surg float: 1:4 or 1:5
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of general ICU experience
• At least 2 years continuous experience in one location, preferably MICU

Shift Details

• Rotating shifts for day positions (7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a)
• Night shift is fixed (no rotation)

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Active Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Telemetry competency required

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Additional Requirements for Onboarding

• Fit Test for N95 respirator (within 1 year)
• MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 1 year)
• MGB Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing)
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30)
• TB test documentation within 3 months of start date
• Health statement signed by a healthcare provider within 1 year
• Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI and national sex offender registry
• Education verification and professional license verification
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if fit test required)
• References: 2 recent, including at least 1 supervisor or above
• Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required for submission

Preferred / Optional

• Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity
• Tdap vaccination within 10 years

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with strong telemetry skills, flexibility for floating, and the ability to work rotating shifts in a high-acuity trauma center ICU environment.
