Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Facility Type: Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH)
Job Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with Med-Surg (MS), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and Telemetry (Tele) experience
- Patient Population: High acuity patients including med-surg, intubated/trached on ventilator, post open heart surgery, cystic fibrosis, vent weaning, pulmonary fibrosis, and sepsis from wounds
- Environment: LTACH where patients require longer hospital stays before discharge to home, rehab, or skilled nursing
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12 hour day shifts)
- Schedule: Self-scheduling with float required
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend (8 weekend shifts per contract)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year recent MS/Tele experience (within last year)
- Education: BSN preferred
- License: Pending license acceptable but must be active before start
- Locals Accepted: Within 50-mile radius at reduced rate
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC (must state "Basic Life Support")
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - Annual requirement
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, TNCC, CPI)

- Background Check (within 30 days of start) including:
- National Criminal Check
- State and County Searches (10 years)
- SSN Trace
- National Sex Offender Check
- FACIS Level 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM
- HHS/OIG
- Education Verification (official transcript or diploma with graduation date)
- State License Primary Source Verification (within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS Verification
- Drug Screen (within 30 days of start) covering multiple substances
- Physical Exam (within last 12 months)
- Fit Mask Testing (completed onsite)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer or declination)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination)
- Flu Vaccine (required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption with mask requirement)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year, with additional requirements if positive)
- References: 2 professional references within last 3 years

- Basic Dysrhythmia exam required with passing score of 84% or higher (2 attempts allowed; ICU only 1 attempt)
