Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse

• Float Requirements: Will float to 7 South Telemetry unit if needed; additional float units possible based on skill set and hospital needs
• Patient Mix:

  • Care for patients on ventilators with pressure support
  • Sedation drips
  • Stroke and cardiac arrest patients
• Skills Required:

  • Ability to identify cardiac rhythms
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2-3 patients
• Required Equipment Experience:

  • Baxter IV pump
  • Ventilators
  • Bedside and central hemodynamic monitors
• Uniform: Scrub color gray
• Travel Pairs: Not accepted

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO) but are not specified for this role

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusions list checks within 30 days of start and for renewals
• Health Documents:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually)
  • Fit test and respiratory medical clearance (mandatory on-site fit testing)
  • Immunizations and titers for MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Latex allergy questionnaire if applicable
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
  • Color blind testing (if job tasks require)
• Pass/Fail Testing:

  • Pharmacology and basic EKG exams required for clinical staff in relevant units
• References:

  • Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
• Work History:

  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
  • Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start)

Additional Notes

• Must complete facility-specific floating policy for every new assignment or site transfer
• Must comply with all facility-specific education and safety training requirements prior to start
• Candidates switching between RWJ sites with less than 30 days gap may have some documentation accepted from previous assignment
• First-time travelers and travel pairs are not accepted for this assignment

This position is ideal for experienced travel nurses with critical care skills, ventilator experience, and prior travel assignments who are comfortable floating between units and managing complex patients.
