Job Opportunity: RN ICU (MICU) - Salem, Massachusetts

Position Details

• Specialty: RN ICU (Medical Intensive Care Unit)
• Location: Salem, Massachusetts
• Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Unit: Level III Trauma Center, 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU (MICU)
• Shift: Rotating MICU RN Nights & Every Other Weekend (EOW) - 36 or 48 hours; floating required
• Floating: Required (primarily to Medical/Surgical units, managing up to 4-5 patients)
• Patient Population: Adult patients with conditions such as Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, Cardiogenic Shock
• RN to Patient Ratio: 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to Med/Surg areas
• EMR System: EPIC

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 3+ years of general ICU experience required
• MICU Experience: At least 2+ years of continuous MICU experience preferred (continuous work experience in one location)
• Telemetry Competency: Required (must be able to read tele strips)

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Active Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to float to Medical/Surgical units
• Rotating shifts required for day positions (may rotate between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a); night shift does not rotate
• Must be able to read telemetry strips

Health & Compliance Requirements

• N95 Fit Test (within 365 days of start date, updated annually)
• MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 365 days)
• MGB Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing)
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions
• TB Test documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
• Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date
• Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, National Sex Offender Check, Exclusion Checks, and SSN Trace
• Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)
• References: 2 recent references required (minimum 1 supervisor or above)
• Skills Checklist and Candidate Submission Coversheet required for submission

Summary

This role is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with strong MICU background and telemetry skills, comfortable with rotating night shifts and floating to Med/Surg units.
