Job Opportunity: RN - Operating Room (Travel)
Location: Portland, Maine
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Travel Nurse specializing in Gynecology and Genitourinary procedures at a Level One Trauma Center. The role requires expertise in surgical nursing and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Operating Room (OR)
- Required Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years level 1 trauma experience (higher value between 2 and 3 years applied)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Skills & Competencies
- Competent in Robotics (DaVinci Xi)
- Skilled in PCNLs, Nephrectomies, Ureteral Reimplants, Hysterectomies, Cystectomies, Colpocleisis, Hysteroscopies, and Ureteroscopies
- Comfortable caring for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Preferred additional experience: General, GU/GYN, Ortho trauma, ortho joints, Neurosurgery, ENT, Pediatrics, Plastics, Dental, Endovascular
Work Schedule & Environment
- Shift: 7 AM – 7 PM (day shift)
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
- Weekend Hours: 1:4 rotation, 12-hour shifts
- Call Requirements: One overnight call (11 PM – 7 AM) for Trauma call; specialty team call schedules may vary
- Patient Ratios: 1:1
- Unit Beds: 26
- Equipment: Storz, Stryker, Olympus, Intuitive Robot
- EMR System: Epic
Certifications & Education
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Ortho Trauma experience
- Neurosurgery experience
- ENT Surgery experience
- Pediatrics experience
- Plastic Surgery experience
Personality & Dress Code
- Flexible, accountable, timely, team player
- Scrub Color: Teal scrubs issued by hospital
This position is ideal for a surgical nurse with strong trauma experience looking to work in a dynamic OR environment with a diverse patient population.
