Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- Labor & Delivery
- Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Float required
Work Schedule & Requirements
- On-Call: 36 hours every 6 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
- No time off allowed during specified holidays (including Valentine’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and local breaks)
- Holiday time off requests may be addressed after arrival using a formal process
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA accepted
- AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA accepted
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Note: Certifications must be current and may not expire within 45 days of assignment start. Actual certificates required; screenshots/photos are not accepted.
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test or equivalent within 12 months)
- Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for all RNs except L&D, Psych, LTC, Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Post Partum, Transitional Care)
- Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) with minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually
Required Health Documents
- Physical Exam within 12 months, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA (fit for duty)
- Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; T-spots not accepted
- TB Questionnaire
- Immunizations or Titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug Testing within 45 days of start (specific drug panel required)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination for 2025-26 or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Required Background and History Documentation
- Background Check completed within 45 days of start, including:
- 7-year SSN Trace with complete address history
- Alias verification if applicable
- National and state sex offender registries
- Federal and state criminal searches
- Employment Application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days
- Two supervisory references from the past 3 years
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated within the last year
License Requirement
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Tennessee
- License verification must be current and valid for the duration of the assignment
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge required (passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings)
- Utility bill or lease/mortgage statement required to verify address (must be >75 miles from contracted facility)
- Travelers must comply with all onboarding attestations and facility-specific documents prior to start
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
