Description
Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Evening, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirement: One 12-hour shift per month on a Saturday or Sunday (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days off, no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off allowed on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
- Floating: Mandatory float within scope to meet facility needs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Strong scrub skills
- Experience in Orthopedic Trauma and Urology
Preferred Experience
- Neurosurgery (cranial and spine)
- Open Heart/Thoracic surgery
- Ophthalmology
- ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat)
- Bariatric surgery
- Gynecology
Facility Highlights
- Level 1 Trauma Center
- Scrub color: Navy Blue (provided)
- Electronic charting system: Cerner
Candidate Requirements & Compliance
- Must live within 75 miles of the facility (local candidates preferred)
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required annually; medical or religious exemptions require approval for onsite PAPR use
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with booster if low titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if low titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Required competency exams and training per facility policy (e.g., medication test, color blindness test)
- Completion of facility-specific forms and rules of behavior
