Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L&D) (Nights)
Location: Grinnell, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily in Labor & Delivery with occasional float to Med Surg or ICU to assist with medication pass or tech cares (infrequently).
- Labor & Delivery unit details:
- 3 LDRP beds, 4 Postpartum beds
- Patient ratios: 1:1 during active labor, 1:3-4 for couplets
- Manage titration of Pitocin
- Deliveries per month: 19-31 (annual average ~300)
- Patient types: labor, delivery, postpartum, antepartum, newborn nursery
- Med Surg unit details (when floated):
- 23 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:5
- Patient types include bariatric surgery, orthopedic, general med-surg
- Drip management including heparin
- Workweek: 36-40 hours, with overtime billable after 40 hours
- Call back and on-call pay multipliers apply (not included here)
- EMR system used: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Iowa
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- Membership or certification with AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system
