Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L&D) (Nights)

Location: Grinnell, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work primarily in Labor & Delivery with occasional float to Med Surg or ICU to assist with medication pass or tech cares (infrequently).
• Labor & Delivery unit details:

  • 3 LDRP beds, 4 Postpartum beds
  • Patient ratios: 1:1 during active labor, 1:3-4 for couplets
  • Manage titration of Pitocin
  • Deliveries per month: 19-31 (annual average ~300)
  • Patient types: labor, delivery, postpartum, antepartum, newborn nursery
• Med Surg unit details (when floated):

  • 23 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:5
  • Patient types include bariatric surgery, orthopedic, general med-surg
  • Drip management including heparin
• Workweek: 36-40 hours, with overtime billable after 40 hours
• Call back and on-call pay multipliers apply (not included here)
• EMR system used: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• Membership or certification with AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system
