Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Job Details
- Shifts: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Schedule: Every Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- No on-call required
- Strong experience required in neuro, ortho, transplant (kidney/liver), trauma, and vascular specialties
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Clinical experience in neurology, orthopedics, transplant (kidney/liver), trauma, and vascular surgery specialties
Compliance & Background Requirements
- E-Verify compliance required
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, counties, and nationwide sex offender search
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID Form required within 90 days of start
- Ongoing monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems for EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG
- Education verification as applicable (RN diploma or degree verification)
- Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols
- Physical exam recommended to meet agency standards (not facility-mandated)
Certifications & Testing
- BLS (AHA) required and must be current
- ACLS (AHA) may be required depending on unit
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications may be required depending on assignment
- Telemetry testing (Adult or Pediatric) required for applicable inpatient units, with strict testing and remediation process
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication competency required for certain specialties
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Tuberculosis (TB) testing: IGRA blood test or two-step skin test within required timeframes
- TB Questionnaire required annually and for history of positive TB test
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination series and/or declination form required for direct patient care roles
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (Sept-April)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof required
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination required for certain departments (e.g., Microbiology)
Documentation & Facility Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo for badge (no selfies, headwear except religious/medical, solid background)
- Completion of communicable disease form within 90 days of start
- Medical and religious exemption forms for flu, MMR, Varicella, and Hepatitis B as applicable
- Signed acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing policies
- Skills checklist and employment application required annually
- Two clinical references within last 3 years required per agency standard

- This is a travel/contract position with a 17-week duration
- Worksite is an operating room setting requiring multi-specialty clinical expertise
- No call responsibilities
- 48 hours per week (4 shifts of 12 hours each) on weekends
