Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• Evening/Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend and holiday rotations based on operational need
• Patient ratio of 6 patients on weekends
• Float to other units or downtown campus as needed
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years required
• Epic charting system experience required
• WI RN or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required - AHA only
• Must pass Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start (two attempts allowed; passing score of 80% or higher required)
• Telemetry exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms including ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and asystole
• No incorrect answers permitted on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical diagnoses
• Patient diagnoses include COPD, heart failure, hypertension, diabetes, ETOH, infection, mental status changes, and falls
• Manage drips including insulin, heparin, and PCA
• Support patients undergoing bariatric weight loss procedures and orthopedic surgeries including hip, knee, and shoulder joints, neuro spine, and more
• Utilize skills including telemetry monitoring, wound care/wound vac, central line blood draw, PICC line management, IV insulin protocols, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including IV teams, physical therapy, phlebotomy, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and lead practice changes

The organization takes a holistic approach to healthcare, focused on diagnosing and treating illness while also partnering with patients in their overall health and wellness journey. The 5th floor inpatient unit is a fast-paced, 28-bed medical surgical unit with 27 beds and a daily census of 24, supported by state-of-the-art technology, evidence-based practice, and a strong interdisciplinary team.
