Description
Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit registered nurse position available in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves providing specialized care within a cardiac step-down unit, focusing on post-operative cardiac patients including those recovering from coronary bypass grafts, valve surgeries, and other cardiac procedures. The nurse will be responsible for utilizing advanced skills to support patient recovery and manage complex cases.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Licensed registered nurse with at least 1 year of experience in a cardiac or step-down unit. Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications. Experience with heart monitor interpretation, trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, phlebotomy, and post-op heart surgery care is required.
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification is preferred.
- Float: Float rotation may be required within scope of practice and upon notification approximately one hour prior to shift start via Smart Square.
- Additional Information: Orientation includes a multi-day onboarding process covering facility policies, patient experience, nursing orientation, and unit-specific training. The unit has 16 beds, supporting a range of cardiac patients with a patient ratio of 1:5. Support within the department includes designated patient care assistants, a health unit coordinator, and a charge RN. Technology used includes Cerner electronic medical record system, Plum ICU medical infusion pump, Philips monitors, external pacers, and pulse generators.
