Description
Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) nurse position is located in Dickson, Tennessee. This role involves providing specialized care in a Level II Labor and Delivery unit, focusing on patient assessment, labor support, delivery procedures, and postpartum care. The assignment supports professional growth in obstetric and neonatal nursing within a 48-hour workweek schedule.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification, Fetal Monitoring training; experience in labor and delivery including maternal labor recovery and transition of newborns; no minimum experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and OB emergencies; advanced fetal monitoring skills; experience with inductions using Pitocin or Cervidil; proficiency in procedures such as C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, vacuum or forceps deliveries.
- Certifications: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring training.
- Unit Description: The unit features 9 beds in LDRP, 1 in OBED, and 4 NICU beds, with specialized equipment such as CPN Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologists, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps. Documentation is managed via Meditech and CPN systems. The staff includes six experienced RNs, along with other seasoned team members.
- Floats: Regular staff are expected to float within the facility as needed, with some staff cross-trained for different units.
- Patient Care: Daily rounding, safety rounding, and management of all obstetric and neonatal patients.
- Dress Code: Pink and/or brown scrubs per infant security policy.
- Additional Information: The team is highly experienced and collaborative, offering an excellent environment for professional development within labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonate care.
