Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Rehabilitation Floor nurse in an inpatient rehabilitation unit. This role involves caring for patients experiencing life-changing events such as surgeries, strokes, and multi-trauma. Nurses will provide intensive rehabilitation and nursing strategies aimed at restoring patients' functional abilities, often working in a dynamic team environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour days, every other week (eow), with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN); BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing or inpatient rehab nursing preferred, but not required.
• Department: Medical Surgical Inpatient Rehabilitation, with a bed count of 15 (including 13 single rooms and 1 double room).
• Patient Population: Patients recovering from surgeries, strokes, multi-trauma, with typical ratios of 5 patients per nurse.
• Patient Care: Care for individuals undergoing life-changing events, utilizing intensive rehab strategies to improve functional gains.
• Procedures & Responsibilities: Titrate IV medications such as antibiotics, heparin drips (according to lab results), and occasionally IVIG. Charge nurses often take a modified or full bedside assignment depending on circumstances.
• Support Staff & Ratios: Staffing includes 2 CNAs, with ratios of 1:7 during the day and 1:11 overnight.
• On-Call & Coverage: Providers available during weekdays and weekends, with on-call services at night.
• Float Requirements: Yes, flexibility to float to other inpatient settings if overstaffed during a shift.
• Dress Code: Any color of professional scrubs.
• Additional Notes: The unit fosters a strong teamwork culture, with frequent physical demands including lifting, pushing, and pulling patients over 50 lbs. Known for a positive atmosphere, excellent leadership, and a fast-paced environment.
