Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU
Location
Phoenix, AZ
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide critical care nursing to patients with complex neurological diagnoses in a 32-bed Neuro ICU setting at a Level 1 Trauma facility
- Monitor and manage patients with ICP monitoring, EVDs, and ventilators in a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio environment
- Care for patients undergoing craniotomies, brain tumor removal and ablations, brain biopsies, complex spine surgeries, and scoliosis repair
- Perform and maintain competency in sterile field procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes as assessed through SIMs Lab evaluation
- Float as needed to ICU, Medical/Surgical, and Telemetry floors (1:4 ratio on Telemetry) including possible assignments to satellite campuses
- Participate in holiday scheduling integrated into core staff rotation and be available for standby on scheduled shifts
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience in a large hospital (450+ beds); candidates with at least 18 months of Neuro ICU experience will be considered
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- EVD (External Ventricular Drain) experience required
- Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 3–6 months of travel nursing experience; must have personal vehicle available
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR and Phillips monitoring systems
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for patients undergoing craniotomies, brain tumor procedures, or complex spine surgeries
- Familiarity with ventilator management in a neurocritical care environment
- Prior float experience across ICU and Telemetry units
