Registered Nurse – Telemetry / Neuro Acute
Location
Phoenix, AZ
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 48-bed Neuro Acute unit, including patients with epilepsy, brain tumors, subdural hematomas, TBI, scoliosis surgeries, and other neurological diagnoses
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and EEG trends (24–48 hour trend EEGs); detect and respond to subtle changes in patient condition
- Perform and maintain sterile technique for procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Collaborate with hospitalists, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and SWAT RN teams available on-site 24/7
- Participate in weekend rotation (3 shifts per 4-week period) and holiday rotation via self-scheduling
- Float as needed to Med/Surg, Telemetry, or alternate campuses
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts permitted)
- Must successfully complete Day 1 SIMs Lab skills assessment (pass/fail), demonstrating competency in sterile field technique, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes
Preferred Experience / Skills
- BSN preferred
- Certification in Med/Surg or Telemetry preferred
- Experience with BiPAP and neurological patient populations
- Strong critical thinking and neurological assessment skills, including cranial nerve assessment
