Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry
Location
Phoenix, AZ
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical Telemetry unit with high-acuity patients at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor and interpret telemetry readings using Phillips monitoring systems; read and respond to EKG findings
- Manage care for patients with diagnoses including gynecological surgeries, pre-liver transplant, ESRD, cellulitis, pneumonia, DKA, and diabetes
- Perform and maintain sterile field technique for procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Administer IV therapy and manage intravenous access; collaborate with SWAT RN for difficult IV placements
- Float as needed to Medical Surgical/Telemetry units at alternate campuses; rotate every other weekend and participate in holiday scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR
- Demonstrated IV insertion experience required
- Competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict sterile field technique
- Ability to pass a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment on Day 1 of orientation covering sterile field skills
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience caring for high-acuity Medical Surgical or Telemetry patients with rapid patient turnover
- Familiarity with BiPAP and CPAP monitoring for patients requiring ventilatory support
- Experience working in a trauma-level facility with access to 24/7 pharmacy and respiratory therapy support
