Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Medical Surgical unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio on a 23-bed unit
• Care for patient populations including orthopedic, spine surgery, and general medical-surgical patients
• Administer and monitor heparin drips in accordance with facility protocols
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly using EPIC electronic medical records
• Float across multiple campuses as required to meet staffing needs
• Fulfill holiday coverage requirements, working 1–2 of the designated summer holidays unless the unit is closed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 24 months of Medical Surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Post-operative surgical experience in orthopedic, spine surgery, or medical-surgical settings
• Heparin administration experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system
• Active Iowa RN license or active compact/multistate RN license at time of submission
• Current BLS certification from AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
• First-time travelers welcome, provided a minimum of 12 months of Medical Surgical experience is met
