Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Neuro Telemetry unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for patients with diagnoses including CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, brain tumors, and tracheostomy needs
- Titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin as required by patient condition
- Interpret EKGs and monitor patients via central telemetry monitoring; must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed)
- Complete Day 1 SIMs Lab skills assessments including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes — both are pass/fail and require strict sterile field technique
- Conduct bedside report and collaborate with interdisciplinary team including SWAT RN IV support, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, and 24/7 central Pharmacy
- Float as needed to MS/Tele units and potentially to additional campuses
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with a minimum of 18 months of Telemetry experience; Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Ability to titrate Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin drips
- Competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict sterile field technique
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR
- Must possess a valid driver's license; must have own personal vehicle
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Neuro nursing experience strongly preferred
- Experience with tracheostomy patients, CVA, TBI, and spinal surgery populations
- Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers welcome)
- Familiarity with WOW (Workstation on Wheels) charting environments
