Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours per Week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 36-bed Medical Surgical unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, utilizing a primary nursing care delivery model
• Manage a broad range of diagnoses including stroke, GI bleed, COPD exacerbation, acute renal/kidney injury, sepsis, diabetes, hip/ankle fractures, oncology, post-operative care, and comfort care
• Assist providers with bedside procedures including thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube setup and care, central line placement, wound vacs, incision and debridement, tracheostomy care, and peritoneal dialysis
• Administer and monitor medications including Heparin, Lasix/Bumex drips, Cardizem/Lopressor/Labetalol IV push, TPN/PPN, Insulin, Coumadin, and Lovenox
• Operate unit equipment including Alaris IV pumps, Omni Feeding pumps, AccuChek Vein Finder, and Welch-Allyn VS machines; document using EPIC electronic health records
• Float to other nursing areas as needed based on census and practice requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license or valid Compact RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHS) certification required
• Demonstrated IV insertion skills
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must reside at least 80 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP, chest tube management, CBI, and tracheostomy care
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic charting system
• Experience managing post-operative patients including lap cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, and bowel resection cases
• Comfort working with ancillary staff in a team-based care environment
