Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Contract | Night Shift | 3x12 Hours (19:00–07:30)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to MS and IMC-level patients, with a focus on cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery populations
  • Manage a patient assignment consistent with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, adjusted based on acuity per safe staffing matrix
  • Care for post-operative and pre-operative patients including CABG, femoral bypass, thoracotomy, VATS, and CEA procedures
  • Monitor and manage patients with dysrhythmias, CHF exacerbation, pacemakers (temporary or external), and hemodynamic instability
  • Accurately document all patient care activities using Epic electronic health records
  • Float within scope to other units or sister facilities as needed to meet census demands

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unencumbered RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in IMC, MS Stepdown, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, or cardiothoracic surgery
  • Experience with a 4:1 patient ratio in an IMC or stepdown setting
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • EKG Course/Telemetry certification and NIHSS certification required
  • Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience caring for patients undergoing cath lab procedures (STEMI/NSTEMI, coronary artery disease)
  • Familiarity with temporary or external pacemaker management and dysrhythmia recognition (Afib/Aflutter, SVT, VTach with pulse)
  • Prior experience with hemo/pneumothorax patient management
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system
