Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department averaging approximately 100 patients per day at a Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
- Manage a patient assignment at a ratio of 1:4–5 based on acuity, caring for patients presenting with diagnoses such as abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
- Independently read and interpret telemetry monitoring without the support of a monitor technician
- Perform and interpret Point of Care lab testing following facility training
- Collaborate with support staff including unit techs who assist with triage, unit secretary duties, and floor support, as well as Respiratory Therapy available 24/7 for breathing treatments and ABGs
- Float throughout the assigned zone as needed, covering facilities within a 60-mile radius of the zone's city center
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Colorado
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
- Must be present in-state for the full week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Must obtain housing that makes floating throughout the full 60-mile zone feasible, as floating applies regardless of where housing is obtained
- Must live at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; driver's license must be submitted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a high-acuity Emergency Department setting
- Familiarity with standard emergency department medications and drip management
- Experience working in a trauma or stroke center environment
