Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Med-Surg unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing common diagnoses including CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
- Titrate drips including analgesics for pain management, anticoagulants for blood clot treatment, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
- Manage and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including CPAP, BiPap, High Flow, and ventilators
- Read and interpret telemetry strips independently, as monitor techs are not available on the unit
- Self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule in alignment with department needs and equitable staff distribution
- Float within Zone 1 as determined by nurse manager and departmental needs
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Colorado
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification required
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification required
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; valid driver's license must be submitted
- Must be available and present in-state for the full week of orientation, even if initial modules are conducted remotely
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Med-Surg or acute care setting with similar patient populations
- Experience titrating drips in a clinical environment
- Familiarity with respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPap, High Flow, and ventilators
