Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly competent, resilient Registered Nurse for a 24-bed Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown unit (7NNA) at a premier Level 1 Trauma center in Phoenix. This fast-paced unit handles complex cardiac stepdown, chest pain, MI, pre-transplant, and medical overflow patients.
Fast-Track Hiring: Quick profile review and clinical pre-screen. If recommended, it goes straight to the manager for an offer—no secondary interview required!
- Experience: Must have solid Level 1 Trauma experience.
- Radius Rule: Strictly enforces a 50-mile radius rule. Local candidates are not accepted; a valid Driver’s License must be included in the submission packet as the sole source of truth for residency.
- Grooming Standards: Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for the mandatory fit test.
- Transportation: Travel teams must have their own reliable vehicles.
- Dysrhythmia Exam: Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract acceptance (maximum 2 attempts). Note: Failure results in a DNU for the entire region.
- Day 1 Checkoffs: Pass/Fail clinical exam on Day 1 of orientation.
- SIMs Lab Testing: Must complete a pass/fail SIMs Lab competency for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. The facility strictly monitors sterile fields, and failure will result in immediate contract termination. Candidates must be fully confident in these skills.
Unit Details & Ratios
- Ratios: 1:3 to 1:4 depending on patient acuity.
- Support Staff: 2 PCTs on the floor for both day and night shifts. Free-floating Charge Nurse (does not take patients unless census is extreme). SWAT RN available for difficult IV sticks. 24/7 RT and Pharmacy support.
- EMR: Cerner (PCs available in-room).
- Monitors: Philips telemetry (RNs must read and interpret their own strips).
- Vents/Drips: CPAP and High-Flow nasal cannula. Manages non-titrating cardiac infusions.
- Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Must work 3 out of 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week scheduling period. Expected to participate in the holiday rotation.
- Floating: Must be willing to float to sister telemetry units (T5, T6, and Neuro Tele).
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue.
