Description
We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join the 7 Heart Progressive Care Unit (PCU) 16-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit specializes in caring for patients recovering from complex cardiovascular procedures and acute cardiac conditions. First-time travelers are
welcome to apply.
Unit Highlights
- 16-bed Heart PCU/Intermediate Care Unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- First-time travelers accepted
- Collaborative multidisciplinary team
- Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- Hospitalist coverage
- IV/VAT Team available for stat blood cultures and specialty draws
- Unit Coordinator available on day shift
Patient Population
Care for patients with:
- Post-operative CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
- Valve replacement/repair surgeries
- Chest pain
- Dysrhythmias
- Pre/Post Pacemaker and AICD placement
- Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN License
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience
- BLS Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- ACLS Preferred
Required Skills
Candidates must be experienced with:
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Trach care
- Chest tube management
- Peripheral IV (PIV) insertion
- Phlebotomy
- Post-operative cardiac surgery care
- Management of cardiac drips including:
- Heparin
- Primacor (Milrinone)
- Amiodarone
- Dobutamine
Technology
- EMR: Cerner
- IV Pumps: Plum ICU Medical
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Cardiac Monitors: Philips
Support Staff
- 2 PCA/CNAs on day shift
- 1 PCA/CNA on night shift
- Charge Nurse (with patient assignment)
- Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- Hospitalists on-site
