Description
Job Title: Travel Surgical Trauma Stepdown/PCU RN - Night Shift
Job Description: Join the dynamic Surgical Trauma team at University Hospital - UMC in Louisville, KY! We are seeking an experienced Stepdown RN for a 15-bed mixed-acuity unit dedicated to delivering high-quality care to patients with complex trauma conditions. This unit prides itself on a strong culture of teamwork, compassion, and collaborative, safe patient outcomes.
Contract Details:
- Start Date: 08/17/2026
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend rotation required; holidays based on facility schedule.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Short-Term Acute Care (STAC) Stepdown experience required. (First-time travelers are not accepted).
- CAP Preceptor Option: If interested in a preceptor role, 3 years of Stepdown and 6+ months of Level I/II Trauma experience is preferred.
- Certifications: Active BLS and NIHSS.
- Clinical Competencies: Strong background in trauma care, including wound vacs, chest tubes, skeletal traction, Heparin drips, and Trach care. (No drip titration required on this unit).
- Systems: Familiarity with Cerner EMR.
Unit Highlights:
- Patient Population: Cares for severe trauma cases including MVAs, GSWs, amputations, and complex post-surgical patients (e.g., Whipple procedures).
- Support: 1:5 RN ratio with dedicated CNA support, 24/7 RT, Intensivists, and remote telemetry.
- Attire: Galaxy Blue scrubs. Free parking provided on-site.
