Description

Registered Nurse

Location

  • Savannah, Georgia

Contract Length

  • 14 weeks

Schedule

  • Nights, 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • Holidays required unless approved time off
  • No call or standby
  • Self-scheduling allowed; block scheduling allowed

Unit Overview

  • 10-bed med/tele regional admissions unit
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4, sometimes 1:5
  • Rare float to a neurosurgical PCU with the same ratios
  • Charge RN at night usually does not take a patient assignment
  • House supervisor present at night
  • Nurse aides on the unit at a 1:10 ratio
  • Monitor techs are on the unit; RNs are expected to interpret rhythms

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Georgia
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
  • Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Ability to titrate drips

Clinical Details

  • Common titratable drips include heparin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
  • Patient population includes regional admissions for med/tele
  • Respiratory support on the unit includes nasal cannula, BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula; no vents

Orientation

  • One day of computer skills/basic orientation
  • Orientation dates listed: 8/11 or 8/25

Dress Code

  • Navy scrubs

Local Candidate Rule

  • Travelers must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered
