Contract Length

• 18 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation may be required
• Floating and shift-pull rotation may be required
• Schedule is set by management; no self-scheduling or block scheduling

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• 1 year of experience
• Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver’s license
• Licensing issues must be disclosed at time of submission

Unit Details

• Medical-surgical unit
• 48 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5-7 on days, 1:6-8 on nights

Clinical Responsibilities

• Common patient types include pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness
• RN may titrate certain drips, with exceptions; no cardiac drip titration
• Common titratable or set-rate drips include heparin, bumex, and lasix
• Respiratory therapy handles breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs, and respiratory equipment management
• Nurses are not expected to read or interpret telemetry strips

Support Staff

• Charge nurse is present on each shift and may take an assignment depending on staffing
• Patient care tech support is available
• PCT duties include vitals, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, applying heart monitors, bathing, feeding, toileting, turning, and positioning

Orientation

• 1 day with educator/computer system
• 1 day with a preceptor

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
