Description
Simplified Travel RN Job
Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Shift: Nights, 7 PM–7 AM
Hours: 36 hrs/week
Call: None
Weekends: Every 3rd weekend — required
Holiday: Must work 1–2 of the 3 major summer holidays unless unit is closed
Unit
- 45-bed L&D unit
- 2 ORs
- Ratios: 1:1–1:2
- Approximately 150 deliveries/month at Methodist and 300–350 at Iowa Methodist
- Hospital-provided scrubs
- Will float between Iowa Methodist and Iowa Lutheran
Patients
- High-risk OB
- Antepartum
- C-sections
- Vaginal deliveries
- Postpartum/mother-baby experience preferred
Must-Have Experience
- L&D experience required
- Current/recent high-risk OB
- Level II trauma high-risk OB experience required
- Antepartum + C-section + vaginal delivery experience
- Must have completed at least 1 travel assignment in the past 12 months
- EPIC experience
- Intermediate/Advanced EFM or AWHONN certificate
- Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license
Certifications

Other Requirements
- Driver's license required
- Recent L&D experience must be on resume
- L&D-specific skills checklist
- Professional reference from the last 24 months preferred
- No first-time travelers
- Local radius: 50 miles; locals accepted at local rates
Important
This is a high-acuity Labor & Delivery position, not general Med-Surg. The strongest candidate will have recent high-risk OB/L&D experience, C-section and vaginal delivery experience, and recent travel experience.
