Job Summary

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care, assesses patient needs, develops and implements care plans, administers medications and treatments, and evaluates patient outcomes. The RN works closely with patients, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team while maintaining high standards of patient safety and professional practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
• Perform patient assessments and prioritize care based on clinical needs.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, blood products, and treatments according to policy.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Follow infection control practices and patient safety standards.
• Provide patient and family education and support discharge planning.
• Delegate appropriate tasks according to the Nurse Practice Act.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and required training.
• Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation. 

• May assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as assigned.

   

Qualifications

• BSN or MSN required.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience preferred/required based on specialty.
• Current New York Registered Nurse license.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• ACLS required based on department and experience level.
• PALS required for applicable pediatric, PACU, emergency, and ambulatory surgery areas.
• NRP required for Mother-Baby, Labor & Delivery, and NICU positions. 

Specialty-Specific Certifications

• Additional certifications may be required depending on the assigned department, including NRP, PALS, ACLS, oncology-specific certification, or de-escalation training.
