Job Overview

Travel/contract role in Charlottesville, Virginia
Night shift: 19:00–07:00
36 or 48 hours per week
13-week contract

Unit Setting

Float pool assignment across ICU and intermediate care areas, including:
- Medical ICU
- Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU
- Coronary Care Unit
- Surgical Trauma ICU (Level 1)
- Neuro & Neurosurgery ICU
- Critical Care and Intermediate Care Special Pathogens Unit (COVID)
- Thoracic Cardiovascular Intermediate Unit
- Surgical Trauma Intermediate Unit
- Neuro & Neurosurgery Intermediate Unit
- ED boarders

Schedule Expectations

Every other weekend
Every other holiday
Must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
Thanksgiving, Black Friday, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day are worked
Up to 40 hours of time off may be approved
No time off can be approved during the first 2 weeks
Block scheduling is not guaranteed

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
1 year of ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Experience with Epic
Must adhere to float policy

Additional Notes

Candidate will be sent for clinical review before offer
Pass/fail testing applies to adult inpatient RN positions during orientation

Pros

Amazing with teaching and doing most up to date evidence based practice interventions. They were very traveler friendly and offered extensions for travelers that had a good work ethic.

Cons

Parking was horrible, had to park far away and or at a parking garage then take a shuttle to and from the hospital which was very confusing at first. Upon being offered an extension of my contract they offered a few hundred dollars off so that was one of main reasons why I didn’t extend my contract.
