Operating Room Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Kingsport, Tennessee
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Schedule: Rotating weekends and holidays
- On Call: Required
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care in inpatient, outpatient, pre/post procedure, and portable/bedside settings within the operating room environment.
- Participate actively in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care duties.
- Flexibility to accommodate hospital census changes, including potential shift cancellations or additional overtime shifts without penalty.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience in inpatient and outpatient nursing settings.
Orientation & Training
- General orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable training, starting on Sundays with online compliance-based learning (CBLs).
- Orientation includes hospital-specific policies and safety manual acknowledgments.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, completed within 30 days of start.
- Verification of education and licensure (primary source verification required).
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug test within 14 days prior to start.
- Required health documents and immunizations:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (as applicable).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation.
- Varicella titer or vaccination documentation.
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season.
- Respirator fit testing completed onsite (must comply with CDC facial hair guidelines).
- Photo for badge must meet specific standards (neutral background, no filters, no visible facial piercings/tattoos, etc.).
- Completion of facility-specific forms including dress code, smoking/tobacco use policy, contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement, and respirator medical clearance questionnaire.
Additional Notes
- Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without financial penalty due to census changes.
- Additional shifts beyond the work commitment may be flexed as needed.
- Candidates must complete all required documentation and compliance by specified deadlines to start.
- References: Minimum 2 references required, 3 preferred.
- Skills checklist required prior to start.
