Overview

• Travel assignment in Chattanooga, Tennessee
• 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract
• Will accept 48-hour guarantee

Unit Details

• Unit Name: Cardiac Med-Surg
• Main Campus, Main Building
• 30 beds
• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Staffing includes 6 nurses per shift, a free CNC/charge nurse, a unit secretary on dayshift, and 3 PCTs per shift
• Cardiac drips on the unit include Cardizem and heparin; non-titratable drips include dopamine, dobutamine, and amiodarone
• GE telemetry and Rover, portable WOWs, and Welch-Allen VS machine are used
• Meditech is the documentation system
• Three full 12-hour shifts are scheduled, with 3-4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period
• Floating occurs with other travel nurses
• NRC patient experience requirements apply
• 12 lead EKG is present on the unit

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS
• ACLS
• EKG/Cardiac Rhythm Identification
• Familiarity with cardiac medications and drips (Cardizem, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, amiodarone)

Preferred

• Cardiac knowledge

Procedures / Skills on the Unit

• Chest tube management
• Wound vac management
• EKGs ad lib

Additional Notes

• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Highest scoring unit for inpatient med-surg employee satisfaction
• More than 12 internal awards within the department
