Location: Herrin, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Schedule: 0800-1830, 4 days a week, with a rotating day off throughout the week; call requirements include 1 weeknight and 2 weekend days a month
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience
• OR Technologist experience
• Successfully passing the Certified Surgical Technologist exam through NBSTSA or NCCT

Role Responsibilities

• Assists in transportation and positioning of patients
• Assists in assembling and dismantling of tables and instruments before and after procedure
• Prepares patient and room for planned surgical procedures
• Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures
• Completes skin preparation and draping
• Assists surgeon with gowning and gloving
• Passes instruments and suture
• Assists in maintaining correct count of instruments, sutures, and sponges
• Applies dressings and bandages as needed
• Assists in identifying, collecting, and caring for specimens
• Decontaminates instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established policies and procedures
• Handles and stores instruments, equipment, and supplies appropriately
• Aids in efficient turnover of the operating room for next cases
• Monitors and restocks supplies
