Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment

Unit: Stroke unit, floating between Medical Surgical and Stepdown units
Bed size: 24
Patient Ratios:
- Days/Evenings: 1:5
- Nights: 1:6
Dress Code: Navy or black solid tops and bottoms
EMR System: EPIC
Orientation Dates: July 20, July 27
Holiday Work Requirement: Must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
Experience caring for neurology patients
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Preferred Certifications

NIH Stroke Scale certificate (preferred; can be obtained during onboarding)

Work Conditions & Additional Information

New graduate travelers are welcomed
Float between Med Surg and Stepdown units
Night shift
Night shift patient ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
Orientation: 16 hours
Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply (details not included)
Call back and on-call pay available (details not included)

Notes

Employee separation policy restricts past employees of the employer from working travel in other markets if they have worked there within the past 12 months

Must be within a 50-mile radius of the facility
